Across the maritime industry, we continue to see the same challenge where standalone IT solutions are purchased and managed in silos with no alignment to the vessel’s overall IT environment. This approach often leads to unnecessary investments, inefficiency, and weak security.
A recent case showed exactly that. The customer had purchased a third-party solution where iPads were sent directly to the vessels, completely open and unmanaged. The crew quickly turned them into entertainment devices, using them for personal use rather than their intended operational purpose.

Instead of replacing the equipment, we chose a smarter path. By using the customer’s existing hardware, we developed a way to securely integrate the iPads into our centralized management platform. Through an innovative remote USB setup, our technical team can now configure each iPad directly from shore and bring it under full control within our Central MDM environment.

iPad fully controlled and managed by Sea IT
The result is immediate value with no new hardware, no travel, and no disruption onboard. The devices are standardized, compliant, and fully aligned with the customer’s IT strategy. This saves both time and money while strengthening security and ensuring consistent operation across the fleet.
At Sea IT, we are both an integrator and an enabler. We believe in maximizing what is already onboard and transforming it into part of a larger, smarter system. By thinking long term and connecting every element of the vessel’s IT environment, we turn existing assets into integrated, secure, and efficient solutions built to last.
